Larissa Beecher has 13 years of teaching experience in special education. She has taught students diagnosed with severe emotional disorders, mild and moderately intellectual disabilities, and autism. She is a graduate of Georgia College & State University. She has a BA in Special Education, a Masters in Educational Leadership, and a Specialist in Special Education focusing on literacy instruction for students with intellectual disabilities. Currently, she serves as a county level support teacher for the Alternate Access curriculum classes in Houston County. She enjoys supporting classroom teachers, specifically providing and developing access level materials for classrooms. This is Larissa’s first year with the GABSI program. She is excited about supporting and collaborating with teachers around the state.
Denise Duke currently serves as a Behavior Analyst (BCBA) for the Houston County School System. An Air Force spouse, her travels have also allowed her to serve in other school systems in south Georgia and central Florida. Denise graduated from Georgia Southwestern State University with a B.S. Ed. In Mental Retardation and an M.Ed in Behavior Disorders. She completed her Specialist in leadership at the University of Central Florida. While the majority of Denise’s 27 years of experience have been spent working with students with behavior challenges and autism, she has worked with nearly every disability identified by IDEA.
Denise began presenting with the GATTAP program in 2014 and became a facilitator later that year. Preparing for and presenting at these events is the highlight of her year. She is incredibly excited about bringing support and collaboration to the teachers of middle Georgia as we move forward with the Georgia Autism and Behavior Support Initiative.
